The Order Knights. After the U.S. joined the war, Great Britain and the United States had made a project, called Operation Templar. Operation Templar had many supporters in allied armies, but went unfinished until the end of the war. It was only in the second war that they were used, however, and all pilots of these hulking behemoths were given the rank of "Order Knight", all the way up to "Grandmaster" which was equivalent to General.

Could you imagine a world where we had actually invented these things?  War would still suck but at least we would look badass doing it.

Maybe instead of integrated mg he would have been better with a trench shotgun? He can always take mg in his hands if needed, but in close quaters it's weight and length will be only trouble.
How about Tesla's flamerfer next?

good point, it was something going threw my mind.
the way thought of it was the lewis gun is big and heavy and not really suitable for normal infantry, this guy would be in the trenches supporting regular infantry so having an mg to cover fire whilst being in direct fire would be really helpful to the regular guy who could be carrying the shotys and bayonets

Being a Battlefield Fan, I imagined this in that game more than the Order 1886, but either way, yet another GREAT piece. I love your mashing of futuristic mech-ish armor with older time periods. Keep it up!

Unfortunately titanium is actually somewhat soft on its own, a titanium alloy is an idea though but its not the material that's the issue. Its how to get it to move, too heavy for a man but too small of a machine for an engine.

Woven steel. Basically thick Fabric made of steel, hardened with resin. This is a number of decades before even fiber glass but not impossible as Plastic was just about to be invented, by accident.

It should stop most infantry weaponry of the time as specially made armor piercing rounds were not common until after WW2, relying more on sheer mass and velocity.

Even then plate armor thick enough to stop most common rifles and machine gun fire could be built on a spring loaded frame that would hold itself up and the operator would just have to move pushing or pulling against the balance of springs. If designed properly a soldier could even do push-ups and and pull-ups in fully laden armor, which would weight at least as much a couple of motorcycles.

Other than trench warfare, such fully armored soldiers would not be common outside urban warfare or defending installations or ships. essentially being able to deploy armored units where out previously couldn't. It wouldn't be until Vietnam the technology finally gets to the point it can be used in the open field again.

By Desert Storm an armored soldiers would be as common as the HumVee.

New lighter robotics would start to turn spring-loaded, self-standing, auto-locking suits, into wearable mechs.
