Looking at your work, it strikes me as what would happen if Rembrandt -no, if Titian!- had entered a newspaper coloring contest, and neatly filled his masterwork into the printed lineart originally drawn ...by a talented 12-year old.
That nemesis halbered must be sprouting from his right hand, because otherwise it would be passing through the middle of his wrist-bolter. His joints must be frozen in place because there's no way they could possibly function or articulate. And the head must actually be a clever sculpture welded in place, since the hair and beard interact with neither the armor they seem to be sitting in, nor the violent wind that's whipping up his cape and purity seal.
You have captured all the richness and adornment and uniqueness we have always imagined that a Grey Knight's armor would incorporate, but you have missed the iconic profile and silhouette that tells us he is a Grey Knight!
You are without question one of the most talented painters ever to work on 40K materiel, but God, I wish you had spent more time developing your draftsmanship.
its always good to get a detailed response to artwork.
well in my deffence it is just a concept piece like most of the others which are done in about half day
im mostly focusing on pushing the idea and not the quaity of the painting that will come later with the concept that i like the most and thats why the halberd dosent look quite rite with the beard laying correctly and flowing in the wind same with the cape and eagle.
i completely understand about the deatil and it can be a flaw with me as i get carryed away but thats only with my personal work if other wise state in the project.
with the silhouette the point of you saying he dosent have the normal shape is because im trying different ideas with the grey knights characters some may work very well some may not ie the cape as ~Big0Jack said is wrong and probably puts the shape and form completely off.
anyways thanks again for your crits and praises they all help and get my thinking in different ways
cheers
